The One that Didn’t Get Away

Congratulations to Jerry Kauffman for landing a 4.1 lb trout and taking home the big prize at the 3rd annual Trout Fishing Tournament held on April 10th.  For his efforts Jerry was handed a check for $300.00 from Belvidere Arts & Events, Inc. (Pictures and more details can be found on their site). 

Now clearly these skilled fishermen know their business, because if my math is correct and you count the tie for 3rd place, Belvidere Arts & Events paid out a grand total of six hundred dollars for 12.1 lbs of fish.  That works out to approximately $49.59 per pound.  That’s some expensive trout!  So either, they are very generous or Jerry, Paul, Nick and Doug got one over on them. 

I am confident the wonderful people at the Belvidere Food Mart would have gladly provided them with an excellent selection of seafood for much less.  For close to $50 a pound, it’s a cinch they would have, at least, thrown in some tartar sauce.  This is why I am guessing it is in their nature to be generous.
