Rolling Thunder Shakes Belvidere

2010 July 16

POW-MIA Issues Are Real and Still With Us Today

On Sunday, July 11, 2010, Belvidere, NJ had the pleasure of receiving some very honored and distinguished visitors.  The sound was loud, the numbers were large and the sight was wonderful to behold.  Yes, I am referring to the annual gathering at the Warren County War Memorial of the Rolling Thunder.

For those of you who may be unaware, the Rolling Thunder® is a public awareness group whose mission is to publicize and educate citizens about Prisoners Of War and those Missing In Action.  Known mostly for their annual motorcycle rides in Washington D.C. on Memorial Day these American patriots have played a critical role in getting legislators to act on behalf of those left behind in times of war.

The above video, taken by a local YouTube’r known as omegabug, shows the Rolling Thunder parading in towards the green were they gathered around the War Memorial to honor the people we should never forget.

The Belvidere Lions Club, along with our local Leo Club, were also present and providing the hungry masses with food and drink.  If you missed this event, I recommend you mark your calender for next years, because it is truly a fun and rewarding day.
